Tomato Bhaji / Spicy Tomato curry

Ingredients

 

  1. Tomatoes  - finely chopped - 4-5 

  2. Onion finely chopped - 1

  3. Vegetable oil - 1 TBSP

  4. Mustard seeds - 1 TSP

  5. Cumin seeds - 1 TSP

  6. Curry leaves  - 4 - 5

  7. Hing powder - 1/4 Tsp

  8. Green Chilies - finely chopped - 2

  9. Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp

  10. Red Chilli powder - 1 Tsp

  11. Cumin-Coriander powder - 1 Tsp

  12. Goda Masala / Garam Masala - 1 TBSP

  13. Jaggery - 2 TBSP

  14. Sesame seeds powder - 1 TBSP

  15. Chana dal / Dalia - coarsely grinded  - 1 TBSP

  16. Salt to taste.

Method

 

  1. Heat a Pan on medium flame. Once hot add oil.

  2. Once the oil is hot add mustard seeds. Once they splutter , add the cumin seeds and hing powder , green chilies and curry leaves.

  3. Add Onions and saute till they turn translucent. 

  4. Add finely chopped tomatoes. Mix well.

  5.  Add turmeric powder , chilli powder, goda masala , cumin-coriander powder, salt to taste. Mix well. Cover and cook for 8-10 minutes.

  6. Add sesame seeds powder , coarsely grinded chana dal or dalia , jaggery. Mix well. Cover and simmer on low heat for 5-7 minutes.

  7. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro . serve hot with Paratha , roti or rice.
