Zunka

Ingredients - 

 

  1. 2 tbsp oil

  2. 1 tsp mustard

  3. 1 tsp cumin / jeera

  4. pinch hing / asafoetida

  5. 1 onion (finely chopped)

  6. ¼ tsp turmeric

  7. 1 tsp  kashmiri red chilli powder

  8. Coriander powder - 1 Tsp

  9. Cumin powder  - 1 Tsp 

  10. Salt to taste 

  11. 1 cup besan / gram flour

  12. Spring Onion - finely chopped  - 1 cup 

  13. water as required

  14. 2 tbsp coriander (finely chopped)

Method - 

 

  1. Firstly, in a large kadai, heat 2 tbsp oil and splutter 1 tsp mustard, 1 tsp cumin and pinch hing.

  2. Now add 1 onion and saute until the colour slightly. Add spring onion and saute well .

  3. Further add turmeric, chilli powder and salt to taste. 

  4. Now add 1 cup besan and saute on low flame.sprinkle ¼ cup water and mix well.

  5. keep sprinkling water in batches until the mixture turns moist.

  6. cover and simmer for 10 minutes, or until the besan is cooked completely.

  7. Add in coriander leaves and enjoy zunka with bhakri .
