Ingredients For Vegan Kobichi Vadi

  1. Cabbage – freshly grated – 2 cup
  2. Chickpea flour / besan – 1 cup
  3. Rice flour – ¼ cup
  4. Turmeric powder – 1 TSP
  5. Red chilli powder – 1 TSP
  6. Coriander-cumin powder – 2 TSP
  7. Salt to taste.
  8. Vegetable oil – 1 TSP
  9. Sesame seeds – 1 TSP – optional
  10. Ajwain seeds – 1 seeds – optional

 How To Make Vegan Kobichi Vadi Recipe

  1. In a mixing bowl add freshly grated cabbage , turmeric powder , red chilli powder , coriander-cumin powder , salt to taste. Mix well. Cover the mixture keep aside for 10 minutes.
  2. Add rice flour and mix well.
  3. Add the besan and knead into a soft bowl , do not add any water, just add as much besan as it fits into mixture.
  4. Add oil and shape the dough to cylindrical shape greasing hand with oil.
  5. Steam the dough for 15-20 minutes.
  6. Cool the dough and cut into thick slices.
  7. Further deep fry or shallow fry the slices in hot oil.

  1. Mint Chutney or Tamarind Chutney: Offer a side of mint chutney for a cooling contrast or tamarind chutney for a tangy kick.
  2. Yogurt Dip: Serve with a creamy vegan yogurt dip seasoned with herbs.
