Vegan Jowar Puri and kairi lonche Recipe

Experience the joy of a wheat-free culinary journey with our Vegan Jowar Puri and Kairi Lonche. This unique combination brings together the crunch of Jowar Puris, crafted from Jowar flour and seasoned with aromatic spices, and the sweet and tangy notes of Kairi Lonche, made from grated raw mango and jaggery.

  • dairy
  • casein
  • soy
  • egg
  • sesame
  • fish
  • shellfish

Ingredients for Jowar Puri-

  1. Potato – boiled – 1
  2. Jowar flour – 1 cup
  3. Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  4. Red chili powder – 1 Tsp
  5. Coriander seeds powder – 1 Tsp
  6. Cumin seeds powder – 1 Tsp
  7. Ajwain seeds – ½ Tsp
  8. Kasuri Methi – 1 Tsp
  9. Cilantro finely chopped
  10. Salt to taste
  11. Water as required.

Ingredients for Kairi Lonche-

  1. Kairi / raw mango – grated – 1 cup
  2. Jaggery – grated – 1 cup
  3. Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  4. Red chili powder – 1 Tsp
  5. Cumin seeds powder – 1 Tsp
  6. Salt to taste
  7. Water as required.

Method for Jowar Puri –

  1. In a bowl , add grated boiled potato , all the dry spices , cilantro and jowar flour and mix well. Add a little water at a time and knead a thick dough. Don’t add much water at a time.
  2. Grease the dough with a little oil and transfer the dough into a bowl. Cover and give it a standing time of 30-45 minutes.
  3. After about an hour, take the dough out and knead once more.
  4. You can make small balls and roll them into puris. Do not make too thin or thick , medium thickness puris.
  5. Until you roll the puris, heat up oil in a pan for frying.
  6. When puris are ready to transfer them into a dish.
  7. When oil is hot enough, lower the heat to low.
  8. Drop one puri into hot oil. After dropping, press it a little with a ladle.
  9. When fried well from one side, flip over and fry from another side as well.
  10. Remove the puri from hot oil, drain excess oil and put it on a tissue paper.

Method for Kairi Lonche –

  1. In a pan add grated raw mango , all the dry spices and 2 TBSP water. Mix well.
  2. Add grated jaggery and mix well. Cover and cook for 4-5 minutes on low flame .
  3. Cool down and serve with your choice of puri or paratha.
