Ingredients For Vegan Dal Palak

  1. Toor Dal – 2 cups
  2. 1 finely chopped tomato
  3. 1 bunch finely chopped palak/spinach
  4. 1 Onion finely chopped
  5. 2-3 garlic cloves crushed
  6. Hing / Asafoetida – 1/2 Tsp
  7. Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  8. Cumin seeds – 1 Tbsp
  9. Cumin – Coriander powder – 1 TSP
  10. Red chilli powder – 1 Tsp
  11. Vegetable oil – 1 Tbsp
  12. salt to taste
  13. water to adjust consistency.

How to make vegan dal palak step by step instruction

Insta Pot

  1.  Start Insta Pot on saute mode. Add oil.Once hot add cumin seeds , after they tamper add hing powder.
  2.  Add garlic. Once they are brown. Add chopped onion. Saute till they turn translucent. Add tomatoes. Saute till they are mushy. Add dry spices turmeric powder , cumin-coriander powder , red chili powder , salt to taste. Mix well.
  3.  Add spinach and mix well.
  4.  Add washed toor dal. Mix well.
  5.  Add water to adjust consistency.
  6.  Switch to pressure cooker mode. Cook for 20 minutes. Let the steam release naturally. Mix well. Serve Hot.

Kadai – Pan

  1.  Wash the dal thoroughly , add 1/4 tsp hing powder , turmeric powder , cut spinach 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.
  2.  For Tampering heat a pan on medium heat. Add oil. Once hot add cumin seeds , after they tamper add hing powder.
  3. Add garlic. Once they are brown. Add chopped onion. Saute till they turn translucent. Add tomatoes. Saute till they are mushy. Add dry spices turmeric powder , cumin-coriander powder , red chili powder , salt to taste. Mix well.
  4. Add boiled dal and spinach. Mix well. Add water if required to adjust consistency. Cook for another 5-10 minutes.
  5. Serve with hot rotis or rice.
