Tofu Paratha

Ingredients -

 

For the dough - 

 

  1. Whole Wheat flour - 1 cup

  2. Vegetable oil - 1 Tsp

  3. Salt to taste

  4. Water to knead the dough.

 

For the stuffing - 

 

  1. Tofu - grated  - ½ cup

  2. Onion - finely chopped - ½ 

  3. Grated ginger - ½ Tsp

  4. Ajwain / caraway seeds - ½ Tsp

  5. Coriander cumin powder - 1 Tsp

  6. Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp

  7. Red chili powder - 1 Tsp

  8. Amchur powder - ½ Tsp

  9. Salt to taste

  10. Finely chopped cilantro for garnishing

Method - 

 

For the dough:

  1. Take the flour in a bowl, add salt and oil and mix well. Make a soft dough by adding enough water. Cover and keep aside.

 

For the stuffing:

 

  1. Add grated tofu, onion , caraway seeds,  coriander cumin powder , turmeric powder , red chili powder , amchur powder , salt , finely chopped cilantro and mix well.

 

For the Paratha:

 

  1.  Make a small ball from the dough, flatten it a bit and place 2 tbsp of the stuffing on it. Turn up the edges of the dough so that the stuffing is concealed completely.

  2. Dust the ball with some dry flour and gently roll the ball with a rolling pin, if you press it too hard then the filling may come out.

  3. Make a paratha of medium thickness (about the same thickness as a pancake).

  4. Then dry roast on a griddle/skillet/non-stick pan on medium heat. Flip and apply little oil or butter on both sides, and cook till both sides are golden brown and crisp.
