Sambar

History of Sambar is recent compared to many Indian dishes. It is said that this popular south Indian recipe originated in the kitchen of  Maratha ruler Shahuji , who was then stationed in Karnataka . When the then young prince Sambhaji , was visiting Shahuji , he wanted to eat the traditional maharashtrian dal called Amti.
