Ingredients For Palak Vadi

  1. Spinach – finely chopped – 1 cups
  2. Moong dal – soaked – 1 TBSP.
  3. Sesame seeds – 1 Tsp – optional
  4. Chickpea flour / besan – 1 cup
  5. Bhajani pith – ½ cup
  6. Turmeric powder – 1 TSP
  7. Red chilli powder – 1 TSP
  8. Coriander powder – 1 Tsp
  9. Cumin powder – 1 TSP
  10. Salt to taste.
  11. Vegetable oil – 1 TSP

How To Make Palak Vadi Recipe

  1. In a mixing bowl, add finely chopped spinach, turmeric powder, red chili powder, coriander-cumin powder, and salt to taste. Mix well, cover, and set aside for 30-40 minutes.
  2. Add soaked moong dal and mix thoroughly.
  3. Incorporate the bhajani pith and besan, then knead the mixture into a soft ball. Do not add any water.
  4. Grease a steamer plate with oil and transfer the spinach mixture to the plate. Steam the dough for 15-20 minutes.
  5. Once the dough has cooled, cut it into thick slices. You can choose to deep fry or shallow fry the slices in hot oil.
  6. Finally, serve the spinach vadi with a hot cup of chai. Enjoy your delicious snack!
