Methi Dal Fry

Ingredients

 

  1. Tuvar Dal / Split pigeon pea - 1 cup

  2. Hing / Asafoetida - 1/2 Tsp

  3. Turmeric powder - 1 Tsp

  4. Mustard seeds - 1 TSP

  5. Cumin seeds -  1 TSP

  6. Red chilli powder - 1 Tsp

  7. Whole red chili  - 3-4

  8. Curry leaves  -  4-5 

  9. Garlic cloves - crushed - 3-4 

  10. Methi/Fenugreek seeds -  1 TBSP

  11. Vegetable oil - 1 Tbsp

  12. salt to taste

  13. water to adjust consistency.

Method  - 

 

 

  1. Wash the dal thoroughly , add 1/4 tsp hing powder , turmeric powder , red chili powder and 2 cups water. Pressure cook for 3 whistles on medium flame.

  2. For Tampering heat a pan on medium heat. Add oil. Once hot add mustard seeds , cumin seeds , after they tamper add hing powder , whole red chili and curry leaves.

  3. Add the boiled dal and mix well. Add water to adjust consistency.

  4. Add the salt and get a nice boil. Garnish with finely chopped cilantro.

  5. Serve with hot rotis or rice.
