Kothimbir vadi / Spicy cilantro fritters

Ingredients

 

  1. Cilantro - finely chopped - 1 cup

  2. Chana dal + Moong dal - mixed - 1 TBSP. 

  3. Chickpea flour / besan - 1 TBSP

  4. Turmeric powder  - 1 TSP

  5. Red chilli powder - 1 TSP

  6. Coriander-cumin powder - 2 TSP

  7. Salt to taste.

  8. Vegetable oil - 1 TSP

Method 

 

  1. In a mixing bowl add finely chopped cilantro , turmeric powder , red chilli powder , coriander-cumin powder , salt to taste. Mix well. 

  2. Add soaked and grinded chana dal and moong dal. Mix well.

  3. Add the besan and knead into a soft ball , do not add any water, 

  4. Grease a steamer plate with oil. Add the cilantro mixture to the plate.

  5. Steam the dough for 15-20 minutes.

  6. Cool the dough and cut into thick slices.

  7. Further deep fry or shallow fry the slices in hot oil.

  8. Finally serve cilantro vadi with a hot chai .
