  1. Chana Dal – 1 cup – Soaked 4-5 hours
  2. Onion finely chopped – 2
  3. Garlic – 3-4 cloves
  4. Curry leaves – 4-5
  5. Vegetable oil – 1 TBSP
  6. Mustard seeds – 1 TSP
  7. Cumin seeds – 1 TSP
  8. Hing powder – 1/4 Tsp
  9. Turmeric powder – 1 Tsp
  10. Red Chilli powder – 1 Tsp
  11. Garam Masala / Goda masala – 1 Tsp
  12. Dry Red chilies – 2
  13. Water – 1 + ½ cup
  14. Salt to taste.
  15. Cilantro – finely chopped for garnishing

How to Make homemade vegan dal kanda  Recipe Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Heat a pan over medium flame and add oil.
  2. Once the oil is hot, add mustard seeds and let them splutter.
  3. Add cumin seeds and hing powder.
  4. Saute the onions until they turn translucent.
  5. Mix in turmeric powder, chili powder, goda masala, and salt to taste. Ensure the spices are well incorporated and saute for another 2-3 minutes.
  6. Add soaked chana dal and mix well.
  7. Adjust the consistency by adding water.
